Arrest in copper theft

On June 17, at approximately 12:30 p.m., the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of the theft of copper welding leads and two stainless steel exhaust headers from a residence on North White Post Road in Pinetown. The victim reported the items were stolen from an outbuilding located on his property. Deputies collected information and began an investigation. The items were sold by the suspect to a local recycling business.
As a result of the investigation, Investigator Jeremy Landeck charged Jon Michael Millaway, 22, of N.C. Highway 33 East, Chocowinity, with two counts of felony breaking and or entering, two counts of larceny after breaking and or entering and two counts of obtaining property by false pretense. Millaway was arrested by the Sheriff’s Office on June 29. He was transported to the Magistrate’s Office where he was released on a $10,000 unsecured bond.
