The Washington 8U All-Stars bounced back from a tough 13-7 early morning loss to Pitt County by topping Supper Optimist 12-9 later in the evening.
Against Pitt, Olivia Paszt, Laci Campbell and Alexis Spain accounted for three hits each, while Erin Everette and Chloe Boyd both went 2-3 and Abby Gardner and Bryan Miller both had one.
The 8U All-Stars hot hitting continued in their second game as they racked up 12 runs thanks to an explosive six-run third inning.
Campbell led the charge going 4-4 with a double, while Shalee Chrismon, Paszt and Gardner each went 3-4. Miller, Spain, Boyd, Everette and Emery Watkins all added two hits in the win, while Sarah Hale went 1-4.
The Washington 10U All-Stars fell 10-0 in their second game of the day to Wilson, while the Chocowinity 16U All-Stars lost 10-4 to East Beaufort and 17-3 to Edenton.
The East Beaufort 14U All-Stars ran into a tough Winter Park All-Stars team on Wednesday as they fell 16-0 in five innings.
East Beaufort found themselves down 5-0 after the first and could not climb out of that hole as Winter Park pitcher Morgan Mathis gave a strong effort.
The East Beaufort All-Stars attempted to slow down Winter Park by subbing in different pitchers but that did little to temper its hot hitting.
“We don’t have a lot of overpowering pitching this summer so we tried to change pitchers and keep them off balance,” East Beaufort coach Pooh Woolard said. “We did good until they caught up with us and started hitting the ball on us. We made some plays but they happen to find some holes on us.”
East Beaufort’s Sarah Rhem accounted for the team’s lone hit.
Before edging past Down East 1-0, the Washington 14U All-Stars began the day with a 15-1 victory over Henderson/Vance. Hailey Harris struck out 10 to get the win, while going 2-3 with a home run at the plate. Kaitlyn Ivey and Haley Witham each went 3-3, while Meghan Moore, Rachel Lang, Chaleigh Baynor had two hits each and Jordan Pierce, Sarah Lynch and Briley Waters had one.
The Washington 12U team continued to roll in the nightcap as they rallied back from a 1-0 deficit to defeat Cashie 6-2. Rebekah Williams got the win as she fanned six batters in six innings.
Williams also went 2-3 at the plate, while Desiree Maurizzio went 2-2. Mary Baylor Dixon, Abbigail Tucker, Grace Lassiter and Hailee Simpkins each added a hit in the win.
