The filing of candidates in mayor and board of aldermen in Columbia closed Friday, July 19.

Incumbent mayor F. Michael Griffin filed for another two-year term.

Incumbent aldermen James Ww. Cahoon, Ray Marner, and Mildred Ogletree filed for four-year terms.

No challengers filed.

The town elections will be held Tuesday, November 5

The town may choose to use paper ballots and hand counting in the upcoming unopposed election, saving the taxpayers about $3,000, Griffin said last week.

The other two aldermen whose terms expire in 2015, are Mike Crowder and Sandra Owens.
