Harmony on the Harbor will return Sunday with a performance from Dry Creek Band. The music starts at 2 p.m. in Festival Park.
Harmony on the Harbor is a free concert series at the downtown Washington park. The Beaufort County Traditional Music Association, the City of Washington, the Washington Harbor District Alliance, Beaufort County Arts Council and the Washington-Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce sponsor the Sunday concerts.
The concert series started in May and will continue throughout the summer. In fact, the next concert will be Sunday, Aug. 18, when Molasses Creek hits the stage.
“I think it’s (Harmony on the Harbor) been a really good thing. Attendance has been pretty good and we have a good group of sponsors,” said Linda Boyer, chairman of BCTMA.
Organizers have focused on finding a wide variety of acts to fill the summer stage. The music has ranged from Greek folk music to country bluegrass.
“It’s a good place to bring a beach umbrella and enjoy the music,” Boyer said.
She recommended people bring umbrellas and beach chairs for the event.
The Dry Creek Band is out of Martin County. They play traditional bluegrass, country and gospel music. The band includes siblings Roger Manning (guitar) and Celia Knox (bass). Roger’s grandson, Matthew, plays mandolin for the band and family friend Stuart Spruill plays the banjo.
“They’re just great people and lots of fun,” Boyer said.
The Sunday, Aug. 11, concert will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
