Ruth Hazel Whitehurst died on Sunday, August 11, 2013 following her courageous battle with cancer.

Per her request, Ms. Whitehurst’s body was donated to the East Carolina School of Medicine and no formal services will be held.

Hazel, daughter of the late Charlie McCoy and Lillie Ball Whitehurst, was born on March 2, 1929. 

She is survived by a sister, Vada James of Greenville who wishes to thank family and friends for their loving support. Sincere gratitude goes to all her capable, kind and loving caregivers.
