Tyrrell County and the surrounding area is full of many opportunities for adventure.

In fact, a option is right next door in neighboring Fairfield.

Dare to Hyde Adventures offers a plethora of high quality customizable outdoor adventures throughout Dare and Hyde Counties. Complete packages are available which encompass lodging, meals, transportation, and outdoor activity coordination.

The staff includes local residents like Jamin and Pam Simmons, Jay Eakes, Will Hodges, Gene Fox, Claude Long, and Captain Rob Orr.

All of the staff have a working background with the outdoors and are trained to serve the specific needs of customers wanting to get away for a few days.

Dare to Hyde NC’s website tells how in October 2011 Pam and Jamin decided to form Dare to Hyde Tours as an avenue for people to experience the abundant variety of natural resources Hyde and Dare County have to offer. A priority was to help provide another source of income for local persons. A portion of the profits from this company were to be used for charities that promote Jesus Christ. They have partnered with Cross Trail Outfitters (CTO) to help facilitate Christian based outdoor summer youth camps, and to provide outdoor opportunities.

While some of Dare to Hyde offerings can be booked as stand alone activities, most guests choose to book their entire vacation through Dare To Hyde.

“They provide us a list of activities that they are interested in pursuing, and we make all of the logistical arrangements/reservations, and provide them with an all-inclusive trip quote,” said Orr.

Orr explained that a man from Texas who recently contacted him has always wanted to harvest a trophy black bear. His wife likes to waterfowl hunt, and they both enjoy fishing. While they are in NC, they would like to tour the Outer Banks.

“So after speaking with this customer and getting a feel for their budget and interests, I sat down and designed a trip for them. They will spend three days black bear hunting on one of our best big bear producing farms and spend one afternoon after bear hunting touring mainland Hyde County. The fourth day they will spend waterfowl hunting in one of our flooded impoundments,” said Orr discussing plans for the upcoming trip.

Dare to Hyde Aventures is in its third year of operation as Dare To Hyde Adventures.

“We did, however, operate many aspects of the business such as wildlife tours, the mainland lodge, and hunting trips for over 20 years prior to starting Dare To Hyde,” said Orr.

Chris Peacock, a Winchester Indiana resident commented on a recent trip he took with Dare to Hyde Adventures this summer.

“I wanted to thank Jamin and Pam Simmons for suggesting our family travel to Ocracoke Island for a summer getaway. Accomodations at the Berkley Manor were great and located near the pier and other activities on Ocracoke Island. We had an amazing time fishing on the Salvation with Captain Will Hodges and First Mate Matthew Eakes,” said Eakes.
