WILLIAMSTON — Angelene (Angie) Dickerson Gardner, 75, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, August 20, 2013. A service honoring and celebrating her life will be held on Friday, August 23, 2:00 pm at Reddicks Grove Baptist Church, 1800 Reddicks Grove Church Road, Williamston, NC. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday, August 22, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm, Biggs Funeral Home and at other times at the family residence, 902 Hyland Avenue, Williamston, NC.
Born on October 19, 1937, Angie was the daughter of the late Willie B. Dickerson and Zula Mae Dickerson. A native of Martin County, Angie grew up in Williamston, graduating from Williamston High School in 1956. On May 18, 1958, she married Lloyd Stancil Gardner, and they celebrated 54 years of marriage. Together they established a loving home and raised a family in Williamston, NC. Angie worked at Roanoke Chevrolet Company prior to joining Martin County Schools and working for 24 years as the district’s Payroll Supervisor. She was a faithful member of Reddicks Grove Baptist Church where she served in many roles, including Sunday School teacher, President of the Genesis Circle, and member of several church committees. Angie was a devoted mother and wife, dedicating steadfast and unwavering care for her family. Her greatest joy was derived from the time she spent with them. She especially enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter, Rebecca, sharing special and similar interests together in baking, sewing, and family vacations.
In addition to her parents, Angie was preceded in death by her husband Stancil on March 1, 2013 as well as many dear cousins, aunts, and uncles.
She will be deeply missed by her son Lloyd Gardner of Raleigh, NC; daughter Beth Lamb of Williamston; granddaughter Rebecca Lamb of Williamston; and numerous family and friends including sister Diane Raycher of Eads, TN and brothers Steve Dickerson and Mike Dickerson of Jamesville, NC.
