A series of break-ins of outbuildings and vehicles in Chocowinity came to an end with the arrest of two men earlier this month, but the charges didn’t stop there, according to a press release from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.

Between Aug. 17 and Aug. 19, reports came in of the break-ins on Old New Bern Road, Carawan Road, West Barr Road and Nelson Farm Road in Chocowinity. With the assistance of N.C. Division of Community Corrections probation officers, investigators conducted a warrantless search at the Victory Lane home of Christopher James Trivett, 20, where stolen property was found, said the release. Trivett and another suspect were arrested shortly thereafter.

Trivett and David Ray Brinkley Jr., 19, of N.C. Highway 33 East, Blounts Creek, were initially charged with two counts each of larceny after breaking and entering and two counts each of felonious breaking and entering.

But according to the sheriff’s office, further investigation brought more warrants for the two men. Twelve counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle and nine counts of misdemeanor larceny were added to the men’s original charges. Both Trivett and Brinkley were served the warrants in the Lenoir County Detention Center and each received additional bond: Trivett, $50,000; Brinkley, $30,000.
