Medical conditions unknown Friday night

Two women drivers were injured in a two-car collision Friday just after 5 p.m. on U.S. Highway 17 North in Washington.
The drivers, whose names were not released as of Friday night, were initially transported to Beaufort County Hospital. The medical conditions of those involved in the wreck were not available as of Friday night.
The collision occurred in front of the N.C. Highway Patrol Office in Washington.
Trooper Brandon Michael said he didn’t witness the accident.
“I was in the office. Myself and another trooper were the first ones on the scene,” he said.
One woman was driving a two-door, black passenger car. She was traveling north on Highway 17, Michael said.
A woman driving a four-door, white passenger car was making a left turn out of the N.C. Driver’s License Division office to go south on the highway. Michael said the driver of the white car “pulled out in front of the black car.”
The driver of the white car was the only person in that vehicle, Michael said.
Fire officials with the City of Washington Department of Fire-Rescue-EMS-Inspections had to remove the door on the driver’s side to get the female driver out of the white car and onto a stretcher.
Traffic on Highway 17 going out of Washington toward Williamston was at a standstill for more than hour until the two wrecked cars could be removed from the highway.
