Mrs. Louise Griffin Hill, age 84, a resident of 106 Lawson Rd., Washington, NC died Tuesday September 17, 2013 at Vidant Inpatient Hospice in Greenville.
A celebration of life service will be held 11:00 AM Friday September 20, 2013 at First Christian Church in Washington officiated by Dr. Michael Price. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery of Washington. Mrs. Hill’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday September 19, 2013 at the home.
Mrs. Hill was born in Martin County on December 26, 1928 daughter of the late William Orlando Griffin, Sr. and the late Fannie Elizabeth Hardison Griffin. Following high school she attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics. She later attended East Carolina University where she received a Master’s Degree in Guidance and Education. On December 26, 1950 she married Frank Trent Hill who was her soul mate for sixty one years before his death on August 18, 2011. Mrs. Hill was also a homemaker and loved to work in her yard. She taught guidance at G.R. Whitfield School in Grimesland and also English at Pitt Community College. Following her career in education she was co-owner, along with her husband, and office manager for Paul Auto Supply for twenty years. Mrs. Hill attended First Christian Church in Greenville and Washington and was a lifelong member of the choir and the women’s fellowship.
Mrs. Hill is survived by her three children and their spouses: J. Scott Hill and wife Lynn Johnson Hill of Wilson, Susan Hill Crawford and husband Carl Crawford, Jr. of Greenville, Betsy Hill Hargett and husband Greg Hargett of Washington; a daughter in law: Anna White Hill of Hartsville, SC; seven grandsons: Jason Pair and wife Susan Pair of Bath, Bryan Pair and wife Nichole Pair of Washington, Lee Pair of Wilmington, Prescott Hill of Wilson, Charles Howard of Los Angeles, CA, John Marshall Howard of Washington and Frank Trent “Bo” Hill, III of Hartsville, S.C; two granddaughters: Scottie Hill-Brito and husband Alex and Becky Hill all of Hartsville, SC; five great grandchildren: Joelie and Harbor Pair of Washington, Cecilia Pair of Bath, Anna Rebecca and Trent Hill-Brito of Hartsville, SC; three step grandsons: Marc, David and Carl Crawford, III; one step great grandson: Parker Crawford of Greenville; two sisters-in-law: Mary Anne Scherff and Peggy Griffin and many loving nieces and nephews.. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her first born son: Frank Trent Hill, Jr.; her brother: William Orlando Griffin, Jr. and two sisters: Evelyn Griffin Garner and Elizabeth Griffin Green.
