Ms. Celia Gray Swindell, 83, of 1719 Quarter Road, Swan Quarter, went to meet her Lord on Saturday morning, September 1, 2007, at Cross Creek Health Care Center, where she had been a patient.
Born in Swan Quarter, N.C., on May 30, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Cecil B and Nina Caffee Swindell. Ms. Swindell was a graduate of Engelhard High School and a member of Soule United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held at Soule United Methodist Church, Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. J.H. Daniels officiating. Burial will follow in Soule Cemetery.
Surviving are two sisters, Evelyn S. Sadler of Swan Quarter and Nan S. Parks of Hayes, Virginia; three brothers, George Swindell of Fairfield, John Swindell of Washington and Jesse Swindell of Rocky Mount; a very special brother in-law, Gervis Sadler, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn S. Cahoon, and two brothers, Thomas Swindell and Kenneth Swindell. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to hospice care and the many friends who gave her support during her long illness.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Bryan Funeral Service in Swan Quarter and other times at the home of Evelyn and Gervis Sadler.
