Arlie Gibbs Flowers, 92, of 51 Cooper Lane, Engelhard, died early Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at her home.
Born in Hyde County, June 1, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Johnnie T. and Cora Ross Gibbs. Following her mother’s death during her childhood, her father remarried to the former Nancy Williams who was an important part of her rearing. She was married to Ronald D. Flowers who preceded her in death. She was a member of Engelhard Christian Church where she was active in the Church Women’s Fellowship through the years.  She also enjoyed time delivering meals to shut-ins in the Engelhard community.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the family plot in Fulford Cemetery. Scott Sukeforth will officiate.
Surviving are three sons, Harold Flowers and wife, Kathryn of Manteo, Charlie T. Flowers and wife, Linda of Engelhard and Michael D. Flowers of Manteo; a sister, Colleen G. Cahoon of Engelhard; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Atha Gibbs and two sisters, Louise Weatherly and Darkis Fisher.
