The Rev. Odell Lonnie Dyson, age 93, retired minister, died Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at River Trace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Washington.
Funeral services will be held 12 Noon Friday, November 29, 2013 from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington, conducted by Rev. Wesley Jarmin and Rev. Gerry Blood.
Eric Apple, Mark Vaughn, Brian Dyson, Bobby Dyson, Joe Crouch and Scott Parrish will serve as pallbearers.
Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, November 30, 2013 at West Lawn Cemetery in China Grove.
Rev. Dyson was born in Iredell County on August 1, 1920. He was a Church of God minister in many churches in Eastern North Carolina including Park East Church of God in Goldsboro (where he was a member), Fifteenth Street Church of God in Washington and Tarboro Church of God in Tarboro.
On October 5, 1941, Rev. Dyson married the former Otha Oneida Lail, who preceded him in death on December 26, 2008.
Rev. Dyson is survived by a son, Ronald Dyson and wife, Carolyn of Rocky Mount; two daughters, Betty Wheeler and husband, Floyd of Stallings, N.C., Priscilla Butler and husband, Robert of Washington; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Friday at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington.
