Ivelen “Ike” Czuhai

Mrs. Ivelene Leola Beardsley Czuhai, age 86, a resident of 102 Camelot Street, died Tuesday November 26, 2013 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.
It was her wishes for her body to be donated for medical research. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Czuhai was born December 15, 1927, daughter of the late Roy Norman Beardsley and Mary Nedry Beardsley. She received her teaching degree from Michigan State. In 1970, she and her husband, Eugene, moved to Washington. She was a kindergarten teacher at Eastern Elementary until her retirement in 1990. While at Eastern Elementary she founded the Mini-Diggers Garden Club which planted trees and flowers on the school grounds. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Washington and volunteered at the Blind Center and ARC.
She is survived by her sons: Thomas Eugene Czuhai and wife Linda of Stafford, VA and Daniel John Czuhai and wife Rae Marie of Raleigh, NC; her son-in-law: David Apple of Wilson, NC and her grandchildren: Stephen Eugene Apple, John Gray Czuhai and Caroline Leigh Czuhai. She is preceded in death by her husband Eugene; her parents; her daughter: Jane Apple; her grandson: Brian David Apple and her sisters: Lillian Dyskstra, Bobbie Nyhus and Arlene DeVol.
