The Beaufort County Traditional Music Association held more than 100 jams and 40 performances this year.
The organization plans to fill the 2014 calendar with more of the same. It is looking for more members to accomplish that.
“It’s just so much fun,” said Linda Boyer, BCTMA chairwoman. “It’s just a great way to spread the joy of making music in eastern North Carolina.”
Boyer said membership has several perks. The latest is a classified section on the organization’s website.
“It’s a thing we started this year,” Boyer said. “They can advertise instruments and classes.”
Members get a discount on tickets to the many shows BCTMA has, and there is a weekly newsletter. Members are encouraged to attend and vote at the annual meeting in January.
The organization is campaigning for sponsors for the upcoming season. Membership dues and sponsorship funding helps the organization put on events like the Tar Landing Jam and bring touring musicians to the county. The fundraising will also help cover the nonprofit’s operational expenses.
Dues can be paid to a member of the steering committee at any BCTMA event, or mailed to BCTMA, P.O. Box 84, Washington, NC 27889. Make checks payable to “BCTMA.”
