The vessel will be open for tours by the public from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. that day. Lee Sutton will present the program Biography of Man Through the Stars at the N.C. Estuarium from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. that day in conjunction with the arrival of the Jeanie B. Sutton will discuss “the Biography of Man through the stars, and trace the journey of how man has utilized the heavens beyond simple gazing to form ideas of farming, calendar, mathematics, buildings, navigation and construction,” according to the Partnership for the Sounds website. There is a $2-per-person (adults and children) program fee.

Sutton is a biology professor at East Carolina University, sailor and owner of the Jeanie B, which is docking in Washington during June and July.

Jeanie B. is a custom-built vessel. Sutton is director of ECU’s undergraduate biology advising center, according to the ECU website.
