Angels N Camo has granted many wishes for outdoor adventures. Now, the nonprofit will go further than that – literally. The Washington nonprofit won a Toyota Tundra in Toyota’s annual 100 Cars for Good contest.

More than 2,500 nonprofit organizations applied for the contest. Toyota narrowed the list down to 250 candidates.

For 50 days, the contest pitted nonprofits against each other, allowing people to vote for their favorite causes on Facebook. Five different organizations competed at a time. At the end of the day, the top two won a Toyota of their choice.

Angels N Camo founder Lisa Adams said the organization would get a magnetic gray 4-door Tundra with a towing package and 4-wheel drive, perfect for off-road adventures in the woods.

She posted a new message every hour on the day they competed.

“We were fortunate that our Facebook friends would repost the messages each time,” she said.

Angels N Camo grants wishes for hunting and fishing adventures to children who have been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. Based in Beaufort County, the organization serves children here and in neighboring counties.

Kids get the adventure, clothing and supplies for the trip, a personalized gift and a gift card a local restaurant to give the families more family time, Adams said.

She said she started the nonprofit to honor a dear friend who passed away. She was also motivated to do the sports not covered by similar agencies.

“Make a Wish doesn’t grant those wishes so we serve a community/population that they don’t serve,” Adams said.

Until now, children who participated had to meet Angels N Camo at the destinations. The organization was not equipped to provide rides.

“Providing transportation for our angels from their home to the adventure location site would be a tremendous asset. It would ease the burden on the parent/guardian if they do not have a reliable source of transportation for traveling,” explained Adams in their contest application.

Once the vehicle is delivered in a few weeks, the organization will be able to chauffeur its clients to and from the adventure, haul necessary equipment and take the vehicle to public appearances.

“Having a vehicle with our logo on it would also help create awareness about Angels N Camo everywhere we go and allow us to connect with people that may not heard about us,” Adams said in the application.
