Mrs. Mary Margaret Collins Roberson, age 85, a resident of Washington, died Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Ridgewood Manor Nursing Home.
Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, January 6, 2014 at Clinton Cemetery in Clinton, N.C., conducted by Pastor Jim Reed.
Mrs. Roberson was born in Clinton on June 29, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Daniel Benton Collins and Elector Smith Collins. Mrs. Collins had lived in Clinton and Wilmington before moving to Washington. She worked as head cashier for the Beaufort County Clerk of Court. She was a past member of the Eastern Star, the Garden Clubs of Wilmington and Clinton and the Democratic Club. Mrs. Roberson was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and sang in the church choir.
Mrs. Roberson is survived by three children, Susan Jackson Pelletier and husband, Lanny of Cape Carteret, Jay Richard Roberson of Atlantic Beach, Daniel Richard Roberson and partner, Joseph G. White of Macclesfield; two grandchildren, Airlie Pelletier of the Philippines, Noah Pelletier and wife, Takayo of Dusseldorf, Germany; and one great grandson, Hugo Jack Pelletier of the Philippines.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Roberson was preceded in death by three brothers, D.B. Collins, Argo Benton Collins and Robert Ellis Collins.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and from 7:00 PM – until Monday, January 6, 2014 at Daniel and Joseph’s home, Myrtle Grove, 4226 N.C. Hwy 43 South, Macclesfield.
