Lula S. Jefferson

Mrs. Lula Mae Squires Jefferson, age 92, a resident of 4984 Reedy Branch Rd., Winterville, and a former resident of 270 Pocosin Rd. Washington, NC, died Sunday, February 16, 2014 at her home.

Graveside services will be 12:00 pm noon on Wednesday February19, 2014 at Oakdale Cemetery and will be conducted by Rev. Curtis White.

Mrs. Jefferson was born in Beaufort County on April 1, 1921 to the late Charlie and Burlie Modlin Squires. She was a 1938 graduate of Pantego High School and on October 26, 1943 she married William Orvin Jefferson who preceded her in death on January 10, 1986. She was a charter member of the Newport Baptist Church and was a current member of the Pinetown Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include five daughters, Brenda Bezousek and husband Richard of Odessa, Florida, Trudy Briley and husband Robert of Winterville, Kay Vick of Winterville, Leah Roberson and husband Joseph of Endicott, New York, Angie Lucas and husband Dean of Bath, one sister, Ruby Daw of Bath, ten grandchildren, Stefanie Nobles, Melissa Leaver, Tim Jefferson, Kevin Jefferson, Eric Jefferson, Jeff Briley, Steven Vick, Aaron Jefferson, Sharon Morrison, Keith Roberson and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Gilbert Jefferson, Billy Jefferson, daughter in law, Sylvia Jefferson, two sisters, Etta Lee Ormond, Paige Hardy and two step brothers.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday February 18, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.
