Thomas Kemp Glancy

July 9, 1942 – Feb. 20, 2014

Mr. Thomas Kemp Glancy, 71, a resident of Washington, died on Feb. 20, 2014, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Funeral services will be private.

Mr. Glancy was born in Carteret County on July 9, 1942, to the late Lionel Lathel Glancy and Mattie Lee Parrish Glancy. Mr. Glancy was married to Sherry Gavin Glancy, who survives. He spent his entire working life as a commercial truck driver.

In addition to his wife, Sherry Glancy, Mr. Glancy is survived by four children: Gigi Hepler and husband Irvin of Newport, Thomas Kemp Glancy II and wife Lisa of Pinetown, Craig Glancy and wife Mary Anna of Pinetown, Victoria Craven and husband Karl of Wilmington; a stepdaughter, Renee Ramirez of Grimesland; a brother, John Glancy and wife Jackie of Mesquite, Texas; a sister, Phyllis G. Day and husband Mike of Kingman, Ariz.; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Glancy is preceded in death by a brother, Buster Glancy.

Jacqueline “Jackie” Harmon-Coley, of 706 Patton Circle, Greenville, formerly of Washington, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at home. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at Metropolitan AME Zion Church. Charlie Lee Rowe

Oct. 11, 1935 – Feb. 20, 2014

 

Charlie Lee Rowe, age 78, a resident of Pine Ln., Washington, passed away Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at his home. There will be a graveside celebration of his life with military honors at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 26, at the Rowe Family Cemetery, Blounts Creek, officiated by Thomas Lee, Stephen Rowe and Robert Worthington. Special music will be provided by Debra Rowe, Jennifer Rowe and Amber Davis. The family will receive friends Tuesday, Feb. 25 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Washington 15th St. Church of God and other times at the home.

Charlie was born Oct. 11, 1935, in Blounts Creek, son of the late Charlie Matthew and Malissa Jones Rowe. He served his country in the US Army and was a retired Civil Service employee at MCAS Cherry Point. Charlie was married to the former Esther Morris, who survives. In his spare time, Charlie enjoyed working on antique tractors or loved refurbishing anything mechanical. He was a jack-of-all-trades and a genius of a backyard engineer.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his son, Stephen L. (Steve) Rowe and wife Debra of Delta, CO; his daughter, Elizabeth Rowe Conran and husband Terry of Farmville; his grandchildren, Jennifer Hope Rowe of Delta, CO, Amber R. Davis of San Diego, Calif., Hannah Elizabeth Conran of Farmville, and Justin Laird Conran of Raleigh; and his great-granddaughter, Addalyn Aurora Davis of San Diego, Calif.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Earl Ray Rowe, Ab M. (Dick) Rowe and Jesse Rowe; and his sisters, Lola Galloway, Amanda R. Chancey and Ada R. Jones.

Angelia Ruth Whaley

Williamston, NC

 

 

Angelia Ruth Whaley, 45 of 200 Hatton Street in Williamston, NC died Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Martin General Hospital.  Mrs. Whaley was the daughter of Nancy Louise Hoggard and Charles Edward Embler.  She was a member of Macedonia Christian Church.

 

Surviving include her daughter Brittany Whaley, her son Michael Whaley, both of Goldsboro, NC, her two sisters:  Kathy Cobb and her husband Randy of Colerain, NC, and Debbie Peaks of Williamston, NC, her two brothers:  Chuck Embler and Ricky Embler, both of Thomasville, NC.

 

 

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at 3:00 PM in Macedonia Christian Church with Pastor Greg Sexton officiating.  The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2:00 PM at the church.

Kathleen (Kathy) Mann White

Feb. 22, 2014

Kathleen Mann White, 63, of Ridgewood Manor and Winterville, died Saturday, February 22nd after a long illness.  She is survived by her husband, Sherril Brooks White of their home in Winterville; a brother, Lex Mann and wife, Karen;  sister, Sallie Scales and husband Fred, all of Washington, and a sister, Caroline Mann of Portland, Oregon. Also surviving are her niece, Kendall Scales of Atlanta, Georgia and nephew, Alex Mann of Norfolk, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathleen and her parents.

Kathy was born in Washington, NC to parents, C.A. (Ace) Mann and Sally Ann Elliott Mann.  She attended Washington City Schools and graduated as an education major and loyal pirate fan, from East Carolina University.  Kathy taught for seventeen years in the Craven County Schools and substituted as long as her health would allow, in the Pitt County Schools. She loved her kindergarten children, bringing their individual pictures home to Washington at every occasion to share stories about them.  One of her greatest joys was to help them make unique crafts to take home to their families as gifts on holidays. For many years, Kathy volunteered during the Christmas season as a gift wrapper for the Humane Society kiosk at Pitt Plaza. Her love of animals began at an early age with childhood pets of dogs, ducks, cats, a horse, and chickens she hatched in an incubator.  She leaves behind her beloved dog, Bud.

As a member of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Greenville, Kathy was an active participant and staff member at Cursillo before returning to Washington and St. Peter’s, her hometown church.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 24, 2014 at 2:00p.m. in Brown Chapel at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Washington, NC officiated by the Rev. Kevin Johnson, with interment following in the Chapel Garden. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Trinity Center Endowment Fund, P.O. Box 380 Salter Path, NC 28575 or the charity of one’s choice.

The family is extremely grateful for the care that Kathy has received from Dr. Robert Frere, Dr. Jessica Triche, Ascera Hospce Care, and the entire staff of Ridgewood Manor.
