Vadie Mildred “Millie” Crisp Lawerence

Mrs. Vadie Mildred “Millie” Crisp Lawrence, age 94, went to be with Jesus Friday, February 28, 2014 at Greenfield Place Nursing Home in Greenville.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 5, 2014 from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington, conducted by Rev. Danny Edge.  Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington.

The following will serve as pallbearers:  Glenn Crisp, Joyner Crisp, Charlie Hoell III, Gary Hoell, Tony Hoell and Jerome Tyson.

Mrs. Lawrence was born in Beaufort County on September 25, 1919.  She was the daughter of the late Thomas Henry Crisp and Carrie Etta Brown Crisp.  Mrs. Lawrence was a telephone operator and a World War II ship builder in Virginia Beach.  She was a member of the Coweeta Baptist Church in Otto, N.C.

Mrs. Lawrence was married to Linwood Lawrence, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include one brother, Bobby Gene Crisp and wife, Amy of Webster, N.C.; two sisters, Arlene Crisp of Greenville, Anne Louise Hoell of Otto, N.C.; sister in law, Ethel Colville Crisp of Blounts Creek; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Lawrence was preceded in death by two brothers, William Berlie Crisp and James Roy Crisp, Sr.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM Wednesday prior to the service at Paul Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington and other times at the home of Glenn and Allison Crisp, 4364 V.O.A. Road, Washington.
