It’s been 10 days since the Pungo Christian baseball team scored 10 runs in a shutout of conference foe Ridgecroft, but the extended break did not repress the team’s offensive momentum. The Raiders faced Wayne Country Day in Goldsboro on Friday, and came home with their second-consecutive blowout victiory, 10-2.

Cole Austin Woolard tossed the first five innings, holding the Chargers to just one run on one hit and four walks. He struck out five.

Woolard’s good friend Will Respess took over for the senior captain, and allowed no earned runs and just one hit, bringing Wayne Country Day’s total to just two hits on the day.

Offensively, the Pungo bats recorded eight of the team’s 10 runs over the final three innings. Junior Dalton Etheridge finished 3-for-4 with a walk and runs, while junior Ryan Tooley went 2-for-3 with two walks.

Pungo Christian hits the road Tuesday for a Tarheel Conference rematch against Ridgecroft.
