BEAUFORT COUNTY SCHOOLS | CONTRIBUTEd NCTIES: Recently teachers from S. W. Snowden Elementary School helped give 10 students from grades three through seven an opportunity to showcase their knowledge about using technology for learning at the NCTIES Conference in Raleigh. NCTIES is a membership association for educators and educator leaders engaged in advancing excellence in learning and teaching through the effective use of technology. This experience was made possible through the efforts of Lillie Moore and Debra K. Boyd, who secured funding for the overnight trip from sources such the school’s PTO. While at the conference, students impressed attendees with their knowledge of various technology and computer programs that enhance the benefits of direct instruction and support the efforts to make the classroom a paperless environment. This team from Snowden represented the entire county’s school system. “The programs that the students demonstrated at the conference are things we do in class every day,” stated Moore, SW Snowden’s computer Skills teacher. “Many of the programs were free. The students were very excited to share their knowledge with other educators from across the state.” Students and teachers at the conference were (front, from left) Charleen Miller, Zhakeriah Wilkins, Tra’nijah Pettihomme, and Corey Jones Second Row: Jorge Osario-Rosalino, Rakeda Stevenson, Jennifer Moreno and Debra Boyd (teacher), (back row, from left) Lillie Moore (CTE teacher), Octavis Grimes, Skyler Pounds, Alexis Tatum and T.J.
