Ada M. Dixon

Aug. 21, 1922 – March 30, 2014

 

Mrs. Ada Mae Mercer Dixon, age 91, a resident of 1275 Langley Road, Chocowinity, and a former resident of South Creek, Aurora, died Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Vidant Inpatient Hospice of Greenville.

A graveside funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at South Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Chris Lewis, Tony Eubanks, Travis Martin and Michael Martin.

Immediate family and close friends will gather 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.

Mrs. Dixon was born in Beaufort County on Aug. 21, 1922, the daughter of the late Jim David Mercer and the late Neta Elizabeth Tyson Mercer.  She was a graduate of Aurora High School and married Claudius Myron Dixon on Dec. 23, 1942, who preceded her in death on Dec. 16, 1975.  Mrs. Dixon was a homemaker and a member of Memorial Free Will Baptist Church of Chocowinity.

Survivors include a daughter, Diane D. Lewis of Chocowinity; five grandchildren: Christopher James Lewis, Tony Ray Eubanks, Denise Eubanks Stokes and husband Eddie, Travis Martin and Michael Martin and wife Darla. Mrs. Dixon was also survived by five great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased along with her parents and husband by a daughter, Shirley Dixon Martin, on March 29, 1996; two brothers, John Wiley Mercer and George Amblic Mercer; and a sister,  Elizabeth “Libby” Brousard.
