The dog days of summer are not here yet.

But area help for your pet needs has arrived.

Robyn Garrett, a Creswell resident, opened a new pet grooming business at 208 Main Street in downtown Columbia as of April 9.

“Pampered Paws Pet Grooming” started Wednesday and offers a variety of cleaning services for dogs and cats.

“I offer full grooming. A full groom means a brush, bath, sanitary trim and haircut” said Garrett.

Garrett cleans five dogs a day.

“It takes about a hour for a small dog start to finish for a full groom,” said Garrett.

Brush and bath services take thirty to forty-five minutes.

A big bat tub offers a shelf for smaller dogs and grates so their feet stay out of the soap.

Steps are available for dogs to walk in and get prepared.

“I find they don’t feel so frightened because it is so big. Big dogs can stand on the lower level,” said Garrett.

Different shampoos are available to fit each individual dog’s needs.  EZ Groom: Special Edition shampoo is used frequently.

Most dogs are already on a grooming schedule of six to eight weeks.

“I am not here to stress the animals out. So if I can not get my hands on it and comfortably groom it, I do not do it,” said Garrett.

Grooming appointments are offered to people by hour time slots. Nail-trims are taken on a walk-in basis.

Garrett has been involved in pet grooming since 2002. She originally started  as a bather at a local vet office.  She went into business for herself in November 2013.

Garrett has two sons 5-year old Bryson and nineteen month old Carson, with her husband Chris.

“I am family-oriented. I treat the animals as I treat my own,” said Garrett.
