GOOD APPLE: The Beaufort County Community College Staff Association recently presented its Golden Apple Award to Vice President of Continuing Education Chet Jarman, who is retiring at the end of May after more than 16 years at the college. Each month, a staff member is presented with an award, the Golden Apple Award, by the winner of the award for the previous month. The recipient of the award is presented with a golden apple, which is passed along to the next month’s recipient, and a plaque, which the recipient can keep and display. Jarman was given the award by N.C. Back-to-Work Success Coach Sandra Barfield, the previous month’s recipient. In nominating Jarman for the award, Barfield said, “Mr. Jarman has given the best of himself to the staff and faculty of BCCC, the Continuing Education Department, and the students. Over the years, he has worked tirelessly to improve the lives of those around him so they might become better citizens and members of the community. Mr. Jarman’s legacy at BCCC will be carried on through encouragement.”
