PotashCorp-Aurora’s recent donation of $100,000 to the tornado recovery effort in Beaufort County is another fine gesture by a business that has been a key contributor to the local community.
The donation was initially made to help fund cleanup efforts and the long-term recovery of approximately 200 homes and businesses damaged by the EF-3 tornado in Chocowinity and the surrounding area.
The contribution is just one of many generous acts the business has made through its existence. Appropriately, PotashCorp is celebrating its 50th year of mining phosphate in Aurora.
Over the years, PotashCorp has been a model business, leading by example and always valuing safety, the environmental and community support.
Back in March, company employees also pledged more that $93,000 towards local causes through the United Way campaign. The company matched it, combining for $186,000 as a whole.
In a time when all businesses are struggling, it’s important to recognize those who, despite the economic downturn, continue to support local communities that back them. Reflecting a symbiotic relationship, PotashCorp acknowledges that without the company and the local citizens work off of each other, bettering the community as a whole.
The company stepped up in a time of need and delivered.
From a business standpoint, PotashCorp has been supplying farmers with three essential nutrients vital to producing healthier, more abundant crops.
Neighboring an area that relies heavily on agriculture for income, the company, from all angles, is an asset to the community.
