Mr. Clyde Nicholson Boyd, age 84, a resident of 605 Wilson Street, Washington died Thursday May 29, 2014 at his home.
A funeral service will be held 4:00 PM on Sunday June 1, 2014 at the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington officiated by Pastor David Linton. Burial will follow in the Latham Cemetery in Pinetown. Brian Lamb, Austin Lamb, Joshua Boyd, Wayne Boyd, Jr., Glenn Mercer and Bo Boyd will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Boyd was born in Pinetown, NC on August 17, 1929, son of the late Clyde Macon Boyd and Media Asby Boyd. On April 17, 1954, he married the former Verna Rae Harris who survives. He served his country in the US Army, was a member of the American Legion, Woodmen of the World, Red Men and Moose Lodges and an honorary member of the Pinetown Ruritan Club. Mr. Boyd was a member of the Pinetown Church of Christ. He retired from TexasGulf as lead warehouseman and enjoyed working in the yard and carpentry work.
In addition to his wife, Verna of the home, he is survived by his children: Darrell Lane Boyd and wife Katie of Pinetown, Richard Thomas Boyd of Washington, Pamela Rae Boyd Lamb and husband James of Virginia and Jeffery Nicholson Boyd and wife Kim of Clayton; his grandchildren: Brian Lamb, Austin Lamb, Ashley Lamb, Keiley Lamb, Matt Boyd, Katie Boyd, Lauren Boyd and Joshua Boyd and his brother: Harold Garner Boyd and wife Lillian of Washington. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter: Brenda Carol Boyd and his brothers: Wendell Dewey Boyd and Wayne Nelson Boyd.
The family will receive friends 6:00-7:30 PM on Saturday at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington.
