The Kingdom Celebration Church International will present Boom Box Live, a gospel mime play, at the Turnage Theater in Washington on Saturday. Curtain time is 6 p.m., but doors to the theatre will open at 5 p.m. with pre-show entertainment beginning at 5:15 p.m.
Boom Box Live is the creation of writer and producer Demario Carr, and centers on the subject of anti-bullying. The play is based on Mr. Carr’s personal experience. The production features noted dance teams such as the Caution Step Team, Unspoken Worship, Dvyne Praizer, and NuEnergii. Live music as well as supporting vocals will also be included. Performers range in age from 14 to 27.
The Turnage production will be the show’s seventh staging in eastern North Carolina, including successful runs in Greenville and Jacksonville. The play is dedicated to the family of the Late Jeffery Hulon, who took his life after obsessive bullying. A portion of the proceeds will go to his family in his memory.
Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. For more information about the production, or to purchase tickets online, visit www.theboomboxlive.com.
