WASHINGTON — Hunters’ Pointe is preparing to host a stop on the North Carolina 2014 Circuit Shoot tour Sunday, June 22.
The sporting clays range, located at 506 Decoy Drive off of Highway 17, will serve as one of seven locations in eastern North Carolina for the competition and is open to the public.
Rita Downs, owner of Hunters’ Pointe, says she is expecting a local crowd, as well as shooters from all over the state participating in all seven events to compete in Sunday’s shoot.
The entry fee is $70 for a 100-registered-target shoot, $8 of which will go towards prize winnings at the finale of the seven Circuit Shoots. Those who plan to participate in all seven shoots could take home a substantial payout at the tour’s end.
Shooters have the option of purchasing another 100 registered targets as well. The second 100 will be released from different locations from the same range. The limit for registered targets is 200.
Downs says the five-stand complex with 25 available shots a round will be open for registrants to practice and warm up for the sanctioned shoot.
All targets are NSCA registered and the Circuit Shoot only permits factory ammo. Lunch will be provided by First Baptist Missions and is $8 a person. Registration and practice shoots begin at 8:30 a.m.
Known as one of the premier ranges in eastern N.C., Hunters’ Pointe consists of 14 operational fields, a five-stand layout and a pistol range. Downs hosted the East Coast Championships in March and will be holding the prestigious North Carolina State Championship next year.
