Mr. William “Jr. Gibbs” Gibbs Jr., 80, a resident of Britthaven of Washington, died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007, at Beaufort County Hospital in Washington.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Whitfield &Whitley Funeral Home, Washington. Burial will follow in Whitfield &Whitley Cemetery.
Mr. Gibbs was born in Beaufort County on July 27, 1927. He was the son of the late William Gibbs Sr. and Mary C. Ward Gibbs.
Survivors include one daughter, Velma G. Whitehurst of Williamston; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home of his niece, Alice King, 122 E. Ninth St., Washington.
