PINETOWN PAST: Pinetown natives Jimmy Tyer (right) and his brother Tommy (left) present a check to John Boyd, president, and Lois Tetterton, secretary/treasurer, of the recently organized Pinetown Heritage Society. The purpose of the Pinetown Heritage Society is to preserve the history and significance of this once-booming Beaufort County town. Erecting a historic highway marker in honor of the Tow’s found, Surry Parker, is the first project of the group. Jimmy and Tommy’s childhood home had once been the office for Surry Parker in Pinetown.
