Fashions, talents showcased during LifeQuest gala

The latest fashions and some rather impressive talents were showcased during LifeQuest’s gala summer show, held Friday afternoon.
LifeQuest Inc. is a Washington-based psychosocial rehabilitation day program for adults. The show featured dozens of the program’s members, who had been planning the event for several weeks. Among them was Nora McCabe, who was realizing her longtime dream of coordinating a fashion show.
“They’ve worked really hard and are very excited to showcase their talents and abilities, and to help Nora’s dream come true,” said Adam Congleton,LifeQuest’s program director, prior to taking the stage as the event’s emcee.
During the event’s grand finale, McCabe received a “Fashion Diva” award presented by Congleton and Angie Hardison, LifeQuest’s administrator and owner.
LifeQuest members modeled a series of fashionable outfits during the show, which also featured the performing talents of those enrolled in the program. Highlights included readings of original poems by Gregory Champion and Jerry S. McCrary.
The mission of LifeQuest was presented during a series of skits and musical presentations, leading off with the song “Don’t Stop Believing.” Subsequent performances shared the importance of friendship, self-esteem and self-worth. The performances concluded with the show’s signature song, “Lean on Me.”
Interspersed with the skits and musical performances was a series of fashion presentations, utilizing the themes “Friendship Clothing Line”, “Gold Clothing Line”, “Real Men” and “Clothes That Make You Smile.” The outfits were chosen from the racks of LifeQuest’s own thrift store as well as from items on loan from the Washington Salvation Army store.
Among the LifeQuest members taking part in the show were Norman Carter, Derek Kilbarger, Marshall Stallings, John Williams, Jerry S. McCrary, Gregory Champion, Shelly Wilson, Crissie Whealton, Alma Rossie, Annette Reddick, Connie Stambaugh, Aubrey Matney, Brenda Manning, RonniePenick, Chris Squires, Fashikie Freeman, Barbara Harris, Gabi Lapas, Laurie Squires, Nora McCabe, Heather Vinroe, Katawanna Leggett, Isaiah Davis, Cleon Latham, Bill Andrews, Jonathan Bryant, Willie Lewis, Robin Farrow, Kim Cayton, Willis Moore, Tara Reddick, Ashley Scales, TonyPaquette, Charles Equils, Becky Smith, Bridget Whitehurst and Dillon Bloomer.
