Thomas Harold Evans, III, 59, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2014.

The funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 11 am in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel.  Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park.

Mr. Evans, a native of Pitt County, was a 1974 graduate of J. H. Rose High School.  He started his career working with the family business at Evans Seafood.  In 2000, he retired with the Pitt County Sheriff’s Department, having served 30 years in Law Enforcement. A highlight of his career was spent with his K-9 dog/“Partner in Crime”, “Waldo”.  An avid hunter and fisherman, Harold enjoyed the beach and spending time with his family.  He was a devoted husband, father, son, friend and “PopPop” to his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death his grandparents, Guy and Verna Carrow and Tom and Mamie Evans; and mother in-law, Agnes Kondracki.

He is survived by his: wife of 38 years, Joan Kondracki Evans; son, Michael Shawn Evans and wife, Jennifer; daughter, Catherine “Nikki” Evans Cutler and husband, Todd; grandchildren, Parker and Caroline Evans, and Sierra Cutler; parents, T.H. and Edna Evans; brother, Tim Evans and wife, Darlene; and father in-law, John Kondracki.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
