CPS SPELLING AWARD: Shawn Gerard, a recent fourth grade graduate of Chocowinity Primary School, is the recipient of the 2014 Spelling Bee Award.
Shawn was presented the trophy during CPS’s Moving Up graduation ceremony in June. He won the school’s fourth grade spelling bee in February and later represented Chocowinity Primary School during the regional spelling competition.
“It was obvious that he worked diligently to prepare for the competition,” said his teacher Cameron Hill. “I was very proud of him for his performance in spelling the words, as well as his display of excellent sportsmanship.”
Shawn is the son of Stephen and Paula Gerard.
