CHOCOWINITY — Bargain hunters take note … you won’t want to miss today’s indoor flea market and yard sale hosted by the Chocowinity Fire Department Auxiliary.

The event runs from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the fire department, according to auxiliary president Regina Elks.

“The auxiliary came up with a new idea to rent out spots for people to come and sell their unwanted items,” Elks said. “We have had a lot of positive feedback with the flea market, and several people have given us stuff for the auxiliary to sell and keep the money.”

All proceeds from the event will be used by the auxiliary in its support of the local volunteer fire department.

Today’s flea market is a fundraising warm-up to the auxiliary’s Christmas Expo, part of Chocowinity’s early holiday celebration slated for Nov. 22. The auxiliary is booking space for the expo, which runs from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Early bird shoppers may also enjoy a pancake breakfast, with funds from that event benefiting Angels N Camo, Elks said.

Booth rentals for the Christmas Expo are $50 per space for a 10-by-10-foot spot, if reserved and paid by Nov. 17.

Merchandise traditionally available during the expo includes holiday decorations, wreaths, personalized Christmas tree ornaments, jewelry, handmade hair bows, crafts and gift items.
