To the Editor,
Beaufort County is a blessed place where the talents, gifts and public service of each resident is woven together into the great fabric of this community. Beaufort County has been served for many years by two outstanding public servants in Mr. Billy Mayo, long time Beaufort County Attorney and Ms. Sharon “JoJo” Singleton, long time Clerk to the Beaufort County Board of Commissioners and Assistant to the County Manager. Together, Mr. Mayo and Ms. Singleton have over 82 years of loyal service to the citizens of Beaufort County. Each day Mr. Mayo and Ms, Singleton have been involved with assisting our leaders in transacting the business of the people of this great county. County Commissioners and County Managers have come and gone during these many years, but the service and dedication of Mr. Mayo and Ms. Singleton has been unparalleled. Whether it has been advising the commissioners on complex legal issues or taking meticulous minutes of countless meetings, these two public servants leave us with a great legacy of service and have served all the citizens of Beaufort County with honor and distinction. I am sure each of you will join me in wishing Mr. Mayo and Ms. Singleton well in their much deserved retirement, and thanking them for their long and faithful service. The work of governing this county will go on, as it must, but there is no denying that this county is a better place because of Mr. Mayo and Ms. Singleton.
