Chocowinity Middle School welcomed fourth-graders to its campus to help make the transition from Chocowinity Primary School to CMS easier during the last weeks of school.

On May 24, fifth-grade teachers, Principal Dale Cole and Assistant Principal Mark Clinkscales held a Family Night for parents and so they could learn more about fifth-grade expectations, things they could look forward to, take a brief tour and have an opportunity to talk to the fifth-grade teachers. More than 100 people attended Family Night.

During June 2-3, the CPS fourth-grade classes visited the CMS campus for tours and to meet the fifth-grade teachers. Students were met in the gym by Cole, who welcomed them and answered their questions. Then, tour guides took small groups around the campus, stopping at important spots, including the front offices, library and music teacher Terry Minor’s classroom. Minor spoke to each group, entertaining as well as making the fourth-graders feel more comfortable about their upcoming move to the middle school.

Tour guides were Student Government Association members and other fifth-graders nominated by their homeroom. The guides were Noah Ayers, Anna Lilley, Phil Smith, Hannah Respess, Kierra Barnes, Jesse Lohman, Perla Garcia, Brandon Sullivan, Melissa Leyva, Ashton Fisher, Grace Rose, Sydney Campbell, Josh Toler and Hannah Jones.
