GARY RAY SMITH

Sept. 26, 1957 – Dec. 21, 2014

 

Mr. Gary Ray Smith, 57, of 6573 Clarks Neck Road Washington, NC, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, December 21^st, 2014.

Mr. Smith was born in Pitt County on September 26, 1957, son of the late Jesse Ray and Emma O’Neal Smith. On April 3, 1982 he married the love of his life, Pamela Walker Smith.

Gary was an avid outdoorsman; and, loved to hunt and fish with his grandson and sons in law. He never met a stranger. And, Gary always had a joke or funny story to share. Gary cherished get-togethers with his family and friends and cooking for all. He was a wonderful husband and father but his true avocation in life was for his four grandchildren. Gary loved spending time with his grandchildren and chaffuering them around in his golf cart; and, they loved their ‘Pop Pop’.

In addition to his wife, Pamela, of the home, he is survived by Daughter Samantha and husband Woody Broome of Washington, Daughter Jessica and husband Greg Graham, Jr of Blount’s Creek; beloved grandchildren, Preston Broome, Emmary Graham, Kayden Broome and MaKynna Graham. And, Brothers, Ronald Smith and wife Cathy and Bucky Foell and wife Barbara; Sister, Angela Skinner and husband Terry; Brothers in Law, Edward Walker, Jr and Gordon Walker and wife Eva, all of Greenville, along with two nieces, four nephews and an extended family who he loved as his own.

A Celebration of Gary’s Life will be held at Riverview Baptist Church, 6228 Clark’s Neck Road, Washington, NC on Saturday, December 27^th at 11:00 AM officiated by Doctor Keith Hudson and Reverend Ralph Brown with Family Visitation to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations to the Music Ministry of Riverview Baptist Church, 6228 Clark’s Neck Road, Washington, NC 27889 be considered.
