Mr. Emmitt Henry Minor, 75, of 1864 Minor Run Road, Edward, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007, at home.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Matthew Free Will Baptist Church, Bonnerton, with the Rev. Cleve Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in Shepard Cemetery, Aurora. Johnathan Hester, John Adams, Billy Ray Wright, Melvin Carter, Chandler Harper and Tommy Clark will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Minor was born in Virginia on March 9, 1932. He was the son of the late Clara Williams Pender Minor and Lemon Henry Minor. He attended the Beaufort County Schools. He was first married to Doris Hemby Minor, who preceded him in death. He later married Almeta Gibbs Minor, who also preceded him in death. He then married Goldie Mae Smith Minor, who also preceded him in death. He had been employed as a heavy equipment operator with Trader Construction Co. of New Bern, which was associated with PCS Phosphate in Aurora. He was first a member of Jones Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, Aurora. He later became a member of Hosanna Worship and Praise Center, Blounts Creek.
Survivors include six daughters, Linda Carol Minor Willis, Amanda Lee Minor and Ursula La’Ketia Minor, all of Edward, Erma Denise Bryant Cody of Newport, Avis Marie Minor Barnes of Aurora, and Goldie Eugenia Smith Minor Powell of Bonnerton; one son-in-kind, Markeith Fitzgerald Minor of Edward; three brothers, Thomas Pender of Scotland Neck, John Henry Minor and Melvin Minor, both of Tarboro; two sisters, Mary Pender Hamilton of Aurora, and Flora Pender Williams of Scotland Neck; 23 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 13 brothers and two sisters.
The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends at the home.
Arrangements are by Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington.
