IT’S OFFICIAL: North Carolina District 1 Senator Bill Cook was sworn into office Saturday evening at the Beaufort County Courthouse by North Carolina Supreme Court Associate Justice Robert H. Edmunds Jr. Locally elected officials were present, introduced by Beaufort County Sheriff Ernie Coleman, as were members of the community. Cook gave remarks after being sworn in, expressing his thanks to God, wife, Holly and his constituents in support of reelecting him to office. “Without Holly, I couldn’t do what I do,” Cook said. “I’m blessed. I’d like to thank God and you. This election wasn’t about money. It was about hard work and integrity of my supporters. I feel like I have the best supporters in politics and, for that, I thank you. I’m proud to represent you folks.”
