To the Editor:
Happy New Year! The Friends of the Brown Library wishes to thank everyone in the community who has helped Brown Library continue to be one of Washington’s and Beaufort County’s best family centered resource for learning, information, history, and entertainment.
We’re counting on seeing you all again at the Civic Center in Washington, beginning at our Members’ Night, Thursday, Jan. 22, 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and opening to the public on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 23–24, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Our “Fill-Our-Bags for $5” day (also for everyone) is Sunday, Jan. 25, noon to 3 p.m. If you’re a member, we thank you for supporting the many things we can provide to Brown Library. If you’re not a Friend yet, why not become a member at the sale? We’d be happy to take your tax-deductible contribution ($15 or more), even on Thursday evening.
Early book-buying at the Member’s Only Thursday evening is one of the perks for members. Please note that this year there is a 25-book limit on Thursday night only; all other days, as many as you can buy.
Most Friends’ programs are free of charge to members. Our newsletter, Friend to Friend, keeps you up-to-date with programs and activities. Volunteer activities are fun. And you’ll know you are helping to support the many vital library services and build an important source for continuing growth that benefits everyone in our community.
The past year’s sale brought in more than $18,000 to help Brown Library buy books and materials, on-line books and magazines, new children’s computers, children’s and teen’s summer reading programs, furnishings, and many other improvements. Once again this year, we hope your book-buying enhances what Brown Library can do for you everyone in your family.
Our Book Sale is always grand event, and we encourage everyone not to miss out on anything — so many books, and only a once a year chance to get them.
