Mrs. Sarah Magalene Dixon Mayo, age 83, a resident of 108 Village Circle, Washington, NC died Saturday at Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington, NC.
The family will receive friends on Saturday January 17, 2015 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington from 10:00a.m.-11:00a.m., after the visitation, a procession will leave the funeral home and go to Wesley Cemetery for a graveside memorial service.
Mrs. Mayo was born in Pamlico County on August 24, 1931 to the late Charlie Thomas Dixon and Nettie Washington Barnett Dixon. On August 27, 1948, she married Carlos Lee Mayo, who preceded her in death on July 24, 1964. Mrs. Mayo worked at the Dairy Palace, as a cook, for 34 years retiring in December of 2001.
Mrs. Mayo is survived by two daughters, Wanda Rae Latham of Washington, NC and Tillie Faye Mayo of Plymouth, NC, two sons, Timmy Lee Mayo of Washington, NC, and Kenneth Ray Mayo of Chocowinity, NC two brothers, William Bryan Dixon of Amarillo, Texas and Charles Boyd Dixon of Yorktown, Va. A sister, Audrey Jean Kelly of Virginia Beach, VA., twelve grandchildren, six great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Mayo is preceded in death by two sons, Lonnie Lee Mayo and Albert Dewitt Mayo, a granddaughter, Briggetta Mayo, three brothers, Herbert Taylor Dixon, Robert Thomas Dixon and John Leroy Dixon and three sisters, Helen Boyette, Ella Mae Barr and Betsy Lou Martin.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for memorial contributions to be made to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, NC 27834.
