Mrs. Dorothy Haddock Lewis, 87, of Greenville, passed away Monday, March 9, 2015.

The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel officiated the Rev. Marc Swanner and her sons, Rev. Linwood Lewis and Rev. Thomas Lewis. Burial will follow in the Mack Smith Cemetery of Greenville.

Mrs. Lewis, a native of Pitt County, was the daughter of the late Charlie and Inez Coward Haddock and attended the Chicod School. She was a lifelong member of the Family Life Tabernacle (former Shelmerdine Pentecostal Holiness Church) and recently attended New Destiny Pentecostal Holiness Church and her son’s church, Graceway Pentecostal Holiness Church in Washington.

Mrs. Lewis will be fondly remembered for her easy going and peaceful nature. She has a love of her family and centered her life around church. She enjoyed playing the guitar in her earlier years and continued to sing until fairly recently. She was an accomplished cook and will be well remembered for her old fashioned fudge. A favorite pastime along with her late husband, Odie, was to visit others, both sick and well. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, and sister, Dorothy will be missed by the many who knew and loved her, especially her family.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her husband, Odie Lewis in 1987.

She is survived by: sons, Thomas Earl Lewis and wife, Irene, of Charlotte, Linwood Lewis and wife, Rose, of Washington, Odie Ray Lewis and wife, Lois, and Ronnie Lewis and wife, Angelia, all of Greenville; daughters, Barbara L. Nash, of Snow Hill, Janice L. Fleming of Washington, and Brenda C. Lewis of Greenville; 20 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and

sisters, Annie Bell Wallace and husband, Donald, Sylvia Liverman and Juanita Buck, all of Washington.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
