LINDSEY ADOLPH MOORE SR

Sept. 24, 1937 — March 27, 2015

 

Mr. Lindsey Adolph “Doc” Moore Sr., age 77, with residency in Cary, North Carolina and Jacksonville, Florida died Friday March 27, 2015 at St. Vincents Hospital Riverside in Jacksonville, FL following an extended illness.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm Saturday April 4, 2015 at Falkland Presbyterian Church, Falkland, NC officiated by Dr. Jane Love. The viewing and visitation will take place Saturday April 4, 2015 from 1:00 pm to 2:15 pm at Falkland Presbyterian Church preceding the funeral service with committal in the church cemetery.

In addition to services in North Carolina, on April 11, 2015 family and friends will host a memorial service in Jacksonville, Florida. The service will be at 1pm at the VFW Post 7909 located at 6204 Blanding Blvd. Jacksonville, FL, 32244.

Serving as pallbearers are Louis “Bucky” Moore and son Louis Moore, Jamie Norville and son Ronald Norville, Jerry Abrams and Ed “Bud” Stokes Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Torres and son Garrett Torres, son and grandson of Yolanda Osler.

Mr. Moore was born in Pitt County on September 24, 1937 to the late Louis A Moore and Sarah Louise Sutton Moore. He was raised in Falkland and graduated from Belvoir-Falkland High School. Having lived and worked on the family farm after high school he headed for Oakridge Military Academy where he attended from 1955-1957 and transferred to NCSU and graduated in 1960.

Mr. Moore made his first home in Greensboro, NC where he met and married the late Roberta Irene McInnis, the mother of his children.

Lindsey is survived by his son Lindsey Adolph Moore Jr. and wife Sharon of Raleigh, NC; his son Michael Lydane Moore of Jacksonville, FL; his daughter, April M. Stotesberry and husband Don of Plymouth, NC; two grandchildren, Aimee Marie Featherstone and Donald Lelon Stotesberry III; seven nieces and nephews, Margaret Norville, Brenda Canady, Linda McNeill, Gerald Abrams, James Abrams, Ed Stokes Jr. and Louis A. “Bucky” Moore Jr.; his love and companion of fifteen years Yolanda Osler and other great nieces/nephews and cousins, ALL of whom he loved and cherished.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Moore was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Stokes, Pearl Stokes, Florence Abrams and one brother, Amos L. “Buck” Moore Sr.

Mr. Moore was a teacher and a great coach in Greensboro and Cary NC. “When discipline left the classroom, so did he.” He later taught at Polk Youth Center in Raleigh. In the 70’s he migrated into the real estate business and was a real estate broker and investor. Although recently “semi-retired”, he showed up for work every day and at 5am.

Lindsey loved his family and getting to know people. He knew no stranger. He loved his pets and he loved to dance. He put his faith into action over a lifetime of helping others.
