BELHAVEN — On Saturday, March 21, 2015, “Wine, Dine & Design” was held at The Wilkinson Center in Belhaven. The festivities began with a wine social and the tablescape contest, which featured beautifully themed tables. The tables ranged from the Wild West, to Nursing to Spring time. Tables were decorated by local residents for this fundraising event. A delicious soup, salad and quiche lunch was served and it was catered by Vala-Victor-Ian Catering of Belhaven. A variety of delicious cupcakes was available for dessert, provided by Ginger Stoop of Gingerbread Bakery in Belhaven. Several of the Northeast Elementary School cheerleaders, who were the Overall Grand Champions in the Middle School Non-Tumble Division at the Broughton Regional Express in Raleigh on March 8, served as waitresses for this event. Guest speaker Debbie Ryals entertained the group with life stories and provided insight about domestic violence and Ruth’s House. The event concluded with a spring fashion show by Nicole O’Neal & Victoria Van Nortwick.
Table winners were “Happy Trails,” and they won Best in Show. The table was decorated by Mary F. Cox and Loretta Bowen. First-place winners were “The Nighting Gals” of Vidant Medical Center and their table was decorated by Laurie Koehler, FNP, Bonnie Boyd, RN and Lisa Cahoon, LPN. Second-place winners were “Days Gone By,” and their table was decorated by Melissa Bishop Lloyd and Lydie Bishop Gray.
