EVELYN NANCE SCALF

Aug. 14, 1931 — April 2, 2015

 

Evelyn Nance Scalf, a resident of Bath, NC passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

Mrs. Scalf was born August 14, 1931 to the late C. Ray and Erma Walker Nance in High Point, NC. After her formal education, on July 9, 1955 she married Robert Edward Scalf, who later retired as Chief Probation Officer with the U.S. District Court, Eastern District North Carolina, who survives. Mrs. Scalf was a retired statistical analyst for Research Triangle Institute and most recently a homemaker. She was an active member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church. She loved cooking, playing bridge and was very active in many civic and community activities.

Surviving in addition to her husband are her children:  Beth S. Bailey, Biscoe, NC; Mark Scalf (Allyson), Wilmington, NC; Matt Scalf (Sherry), Atlanta, GA; Gary Scalf (Karen), Mt. Olive, NC; her grandchildren:  Madison Wingo (Drew), Jordan Scalf, Jerad Williams (Melanie), Noah Williams (Mollie), Hannah Williams, Anna Scalf, Katlyn Scalf, Daniel Scalf and Taylor Scalf; and one great-grandchild, Gage Williams. Mrs. Scalf is also survived by one sister, Betty Smith of Black Mountain, NC. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one sister, Doris Hardin of Fairmont, NC.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 6, 2015 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Bath, NC officiated by Rev. Diane Tomlinson and Rev. Gary Fulton. Entombment will immediately follow in the church columbarium. A reception and visitation will be held in the Church Parish Hall following the service. The family will also receive friends at other times at the home on Sawmill Landing Road in Bath, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be forwarded to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 257, Bath, NC  27808 and Vidant Home Health, 1211 Highland Dr., Washington, NC  27889.
