OBIT ELKSLEROY ELKS

Aug. 22, 1941 — April 12, 2015

 

LeRoy Elks, age73, a resident of, Chocowinity, NC, passed away on April 12, 2015 at his residence. Mr. Elks was born in Norfolk, VA on August 22, 1941 to the late Isaac William and Marjorie Clark Elks Hodges. He graduated from Washington High School in 1959 and attended Pitt Community College.

On November 3, 1962, he married the former Tessie Avery, who survives.  He is also survived by his daughter: Carol Ann Glisson of Chocowinity, NC; brothers: Freddie Lee Elks of Chocowinity, NC and David Elks of Wake Forest, NC; sisters: Eva Mae Davis of Washington, NC; Betty Lou Cutler of Washington, NC; Linda Tetterton of Pinetown, NC and Marlene Ingalls of Beltone, MO; sisters-in-law: Pauline Stilley (Wade); Linda Rowe (Jacob) and Judy Mobley (Jimmy) all of Chocowinity, NC.

Mr. Elks was preceded in death by a brother, William Elks and a sister, JoAnn Hodges.

Mr. Elks served our country in Vietnam as an Army Mechanic/GIC20 Marine Engineer. He was a retired self-employed automotive machinist. In his leisure time, he enjoyed computers.

A celebration of his life with military honors will be held at 2:00 on Wednesday, April 15 at Hillside Funeral Service, officiated by Pastor Ronnie Gurganus. David Elks, Matthew Tyndall, Tony Rowe, Farel Rowe, Robert Alton and Brandon Rowe will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations. The family will also receive friends other times at the home of Pauline and Wade Stilley, 520 Possum Track Road, Chocowinity, NC.
