Daniel L. Cochran

June 15, 1952 – April 22, 2015

Mr. Daniel Lynn Cochran, age 62, of Black Mountain, formerly of Washington, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 22, 2015. A native of Charlotte, he was born on June 15, 1952, to the late Leroy Cochran and Margaret Perdue Cochran. He was a graduate of UNC-Charlotte whose talent and passion for planning and architecture can be seen in numerous buildings of his design throughout the Carolinas. Always happy to share his time and gifts with others, Dan spent the latter portion of his career as a teacher. Until a few hours prior to his passing, Dan was in his classroom at Charles D. Owen High School, doing what he loved.
Surviving him are his wife of 32 years, Rae Davis Cochran of Washington; two sons, Matthew Jordan Cochran of Asheville and his fiancé Catherine Loray Hamilton, and Philip Elliot Cochran and his wife Paige of Washington; and his sister, Rebecca Cochran Salgado of Florence, Ore.
A service in celebration of his life will be held on Friday, May 1, 2015, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the cemetery of the Golden Church of the Brethren in Rutherford County.
