CHS Students Compete in MathCon 2015

In February, three Columbia High School students competed in the initial, online round of MathCon 2015. MathCon is a national math competition for students in grades 5-12 across the United States. MathCon reaches out to more students every year with two related goals: To contribute to their academics by challenging and entertaining them with insightful math problems and to promote high-quality math educators.The 700 top-scoring students get invited to compete in the final round of MathCon 2015 in Chicago, Ill, on April 25th.
CHS Sophomores, Brendon Reynolds, Jennifer Nguyen, and Yulin Zhang, competed, along with approximately 42,000 other students across the United States., to earn an invitation to the national MathCon 2015 competition.
These three outstanding students exemplified Columbia High School’s dedication to Mathematics instruction during the online round of competition. Yulin Zhang qualified among the top 700 students in the U.S., and will travel to Chicago in April to compete in the final round of the competition. Both Brendon Reynolds and Jennifer Nguyen received Honorable Mention in the online round of MathCon 2015.
